Wedding Journal

I got a call one day from a girl who wanted a book for wedding guests to write in to give marriage advice to a bride and groom.  I used soft sheep skin and lined it with handmade paper.  The pages are French Paper's aged newsprint and it's all sewn together with a single thread. It's symbolic of the marriage commitment.  The cover is like the husband, the pages can represent the wife and it's all held together with the cord of love.  Separately, they're not complete and breaking the thread would destroy the book.

Bought a sewing machine

I needed a sewing machine to make the Moleskine cover so I bought this one made in Japan just after World War II. It says "Made in Occupied Japan" on the back.

The Farmer's Pocket Journal

My mom said, How 'bout a small book for men to carry in their pocket?  Businessmen, farmers, carpenters, sportsmen...  And with a pencil loop.

I think it's a great idea! Leather bound of course and with rivets.

Talk about green!!!

These two Coca-Cola journals I made completely from repurposed paper. For the covers, I used the carton of a Coca-Cola cans package. The inside pages were dug out of the recycle bin. Yes they were clean.

New Years journal

I tried to get a copy of a cool new journal I designed for DaySpring to write in for 2015 as I was right at the end of my old journal at the end of the year.  But they weren't in stock yet so I got an old scrap of leather and some old blueprints and started putting it together as the new year rolled in.  I find it interesting to write around all the drawings.

Another game board book

I made another game board book over the weekend. Candy land.
